I started with National Instruments Germany GmbH in March 1997; My job was to translate press releases, newsletters, documentation etc.
In the marketing department later on I had to translate the first German LabVIEW strings which I did with the help of a sales guy; the first translation was made by a intern in the USA - but he had a very bad english - and that was how the translations looked like so we had to start from scratch.
We had to translate over 3500 strings, therefore the company hired another guy who was responsible for implementing the new localized version and continuing to translate the rising amount of strings the software had.
I used to work as a 'backup' for an Applications Engineer, who left the company in December 1997.
I took over his responsibility over networking after a introduction period - and I still have to take care of this piece inourdays. over the next years my responsibility was extended to be in charge for electric-/network expansions due to the continiously raising number of users and office space.
Installation, maintenance and expansion of it systems and phone devices are part of my job as well as communication with other European/American IT folks.
Meanwhile I am reponsible for the Central-European systems (Germany - Austria - Switzerland) and evenb some eastern European Branches and I am a member of the European IT project team.
I 'live' systems and 'work after work' is daily business.
Some details in the next section.
Due to the continuous expansion of the munich IT systems architecture I have to cover different sections of IT:
- LAN: Configuration and maintenance of network components (e.g. Cisco, Juniper)
- WAN: Maintenance and troubleshooting of the lines of different providers (Internet, Frame relay, MPLS, ...)
- Setup and go-live of server systems, based on Windows or Linux.
- Phone systems: Either analogue, ISDN, VoIP, or PBX - Basic knowledge about PBX's, Call Center solutions etc. needed.
Once in a while an IT guy will find 'Murphys Laws' in his systems - and support and troubleshooting takes longer than expected (from a users point of view). But please be patient - I/we are working on it.
To be able to provide IT knowledge over the borders of the company for private users as well as small- and medium sized companies I founded the Ingenieur- und Planungsbüro Zießow.
Due to good contacts and relationships to specialized partners I can provide customers with either technical or non-technical background. I can provide professional engineering services for a wide range of areas.
Service areas
- Telephony: PABX, Standards, Contracts
- Network: Cabling Systems and Structure, Wireless
- IT Support: PC set-up, Maintenance, Updates

- Ham Radio
I am a Ham Radio Amateur with a Class B license. I did not find any time to execute this hobby over the last years. I started with CB Radio and had interests to get more professional. I started wit the 'small' C-Class license and tried out lots of stuff. I prefer digital transmissions.
Please find detailled information on my ham-radio page (mostly german, but self explaining).
You currently cannot send anything digital to my address on Packet Radio, the digipeater DB0KCP was shut down by the operator Guenter. - Reading
I like thriller books and movies about science fiction. I watched the Start-Trek-series very often: Voyager. - Design
I like drawing and painting (when I find some time). Can be pretty creative. - Music
I do not play any instrument any more (time again), but was working as a DJ for several years. No matter if rock, reggae, fox or house, I can play everything you want me to play. My favorite style of music (depending on my mood) is party music (I love to make people feel good), but also non-commercial styles like Psy, Trance and GOA.
Here are some pictures from disco Amadeus.
- Technical Gimmicks
I like technical stuff. Maybe this was the reason for studying and the topic of my diploma thesis. (combined Hobby and 'must do'... cool ey). I shot lots of satellite pictures and this is a nice very nice one of our planet earth.
The interest for computers in general as well as detailed information belongs to my 'daily business'. I have to use these boxes at work and have them as helpers at home. - Conversion
I learned a lot about home improvement and rebuilding. The garden has to be kept ok as well. thus I had to read lots of literature - here is one book of my choice book reference (german link) for all lazy intelligent gardeners ☺.
